Hrithik's a good companion: Barbara Mori

Source:: TOI

She’s being kept under wraps till such time as the full-blown publicity campaign for Rakesh Roshan’s Kites breaks.

But TOI managed a tete-a-tete with Barbara Mori. Yeah, the Mexican girl loves Mumbai and the movies we make.

How are you today?

I am really excited because Kites is the biggest film I have ever done. I never imagined that I would come to Bollywood and be a part of a film made for audience all over the world. Kites will be very important for my career because this is my first international movie. I can´t wait!

One hears that you have performed some daring stunts in the film? Were you scared? Tell us about some of the stunts...
I was not scared at all, because I like danger. I was really very impressed with the action director and with car crashes and explosions. Hrithik is so good at action, I was learning a lot from him. The action director kept dissuading me from doing my stunts because they were dangerous. But I went to Hrithik and told him I can do it. So he said okay and convinced the action director to let me do my own action stunts. We had a lot of fun. It was the best experience of my career!

Are you open to doing more films in Bollywood post Kites?
Of course, I would love to do more movies in Bollywood. It will be a pleasure for me.

Why have you stayed away from Mumbai for so long? Shouldn’t you be here to publicise your film?
I live in Mexico with my son and my family and I have been working so much in my country. Of course I will come to India soon. I’m looking forward to it.

Are you aware of the entire media circus around your teaming up with Hrithik Roshan?
Working with Hrithik was an amazing experience because he is a very good companion and now a very good friend. As co-stars, Hrithik and I got along really well, he gave me the confidence to do a few scenes that I was initially scared of like the underwater swimming scene.

There is also talk of physical intimacy between Hrithik and you in the movie...
I would not like to comment. Please watch the film.

Hrithik Roshan is set to bond with his pet pigeon in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish.

Hrithik Roshan is set to bond with his pet pigeon in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish.

Apparently, Bhansali loved the idea of having a pet bird for Hrithik's paraplegic character.

But working with a pigeon wasn't easy, because it would take many shots to get the placement right.

The unit had a harrowing time working around the pigeon but is now happy with the results.

Farhan and Hrithik enter into a gregarious territory with Zoya Akhtar's next!

Source:: Filmicafe

Both Farhan and Hrithik have recently played or are playing dysfunctional and largely introvert characters. While Farhan voluntarily went into a shell to play the loner Karthik in his latest release Karthik Calling Karthik, Hrithik has been undergoing his own share of solitude as the paraplegic in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s forthcoming Guzaarish.

However, both will now get into more gregarious territory with Zoya Akhtar’s, Running With The Bulls. Incidentally, the film is about male bonding, a similar subject to Farhan’s directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai in 2001.

Commenting on the film, Farhan says, “It is in my destiny as a filmmaker and actor to keep returning to films about male bonding. For Karthik Calling Karthik, I was shut off from the outside world as far possible for me - I do have responsibilities beyond an actor, you know. Karthik has been my toughest role so far, not only in terms of the character’s solitude but also because this was my first solo hero film. It exhausted me emotionally. So yes, Zoya’s film, which is a fun-filled, male bonding road story, is just the excuse I needed to get out of the feeling of desolation.”

Farhan and Hrithik intend to whoop it up, before they face the camera for Zoya. “Hrithik and I are buddies but we have not hung out for a while. Actually, Abhay Deol is the part of the threesome I need to get to know well. We will be doing our share of bonding before we head to Spain for the shoot,” adds Farhan.

Farhan remembers how Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna needed to get similarly comfortable with each other during Dil Chahta Hai.

Incidentally, this isn’t Farhan’s first trip to Spain. Farhan says, “That was not as an actor and definitely not to the places where Zoya will shoot with us. And certainly not to do the things we three guys will be doing for the film.” The shoot of Running With The Bulls starts in April. Thereafter, Farhan gets back to direction with Don 2, for which shooting starts in September.

Our man in Mumbai, DEVANSH PATEL, reviews the trend-setting Bollywood film Kites

ONE of the most eagerly awaited films of the year, is set for release on May 21. After a thunderous response to the film's first-look promo, Bollywood-loving audiences are eagerly awaiting Hrithik Roshan's and Mexican actress Barbara Mori's Kites.

Produced by Rakesh Roshan and being released worldwide by Reliance Big Pictures, Kites is directed by Anurag Basu and also stars Kangana Ranaut, Kabir Bedi and Nick Brown.
Music is by Rajesh Roshan, cinematography by Ayananka Bose and stunt co-ordination by Hollywood's Spiro Razatos.

What's more, Kites is going to be released on the same day with its English version, presented and reworked by the well-known Hollywood director Brett Ratner (Rush Hour series, X-Men: The Last Stand). The English version is re-edited by Mark Helfrich (Rush Hour series, X-Men: The Last Stand) with additional background score by Graeme Revell (Sin City, Grindhouse, Pineapple Express).

The cast and crew are tight-lipped about the film because of its visuals, story and direction.
Kites is a compelling romantic saga that goes beyond barriers, boundaries and cultures. It is a story of passion that defies every rule, of a relationship that takes two lovers (Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori) on a thrilling journey filled with precious moments and unexpected betrayal.

Shot in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Santa Fe, Kites is one of the biggest films ever produced in India.
As a company, Reliance Big Entertainment Limited (RBEL) has partnered Steven Spielberg and Stacey Snider in the new DreamWorks Studios. Additionally RBEL has unique creative partnerships for film development and production with Brian Grazer and Ron Howard's Imagine Entertainment, and several production companies owned by top US actors and producers, including Nicholas Cage, Brad Pitt, Tom Hank, George Clooney, Chris Columbus, Jay Roach, Jim Carrey, Brett Ratner and Julia Roberts.
Every journalist in India is probably looking for a quote from actor Hrithik

Roshan and father/producer Rakesh Roshan. Well, your Bollywood columnist finds himself the luckiest man because Devansh Patel has an exclusive quote from the father/son duo on Kites.
Commenting on the film for the first ever time, Hrithik says: "Kites is a very special film for me. It marks my return after three-and-a-half years, and yes, I'm equally excited about its worldwide release. We all had conviction in the concept and always felt that this film could cross boundaries and break the borders of language and geography.

It can become something that will be completely new - newer than we've ever seen in India or in the world. And we all have collectively achieved that. It is a film which will appeal to people across cultures and ethnicity."

Producer Rakesh Roshan says: "We are very excited about the release of Kites in the UK. Yes, it is indeed a one-of-a-kind, film, which will witness the widest release ever. For the first time an Indian film will be releasing an English and Hindi version, one for the diaspora audience and the other for the international audience across cultures and races."

Kites is unique in many ways; it will also showcase for the first time an international (Mexican) actress, Barbara Mori in the lead. The film is bilingual, with Hindi and Spanish being used for the first time on the big screen. The English version will have English and Spanish as the primary languages spoken in the film.

"By this extraordinary achievement, we are hoping to tap new markets which have never been attempted so far in Bollywood."

Moved by the plight of paraplegics, Hrithik Roshan is paying for the medical treatment of ten patients in Mumbai

Getting into the skin of the character for a film can really change an actor’s outlook towards life. That’s exactly what happened to Hrithik Roshan while researching for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish in which he plays a paraplegic.

After interacting with people affected with paraplegia in a couple of hospitals in western and central suburbs- to get his body language right for the role - Hrithik decided he had to extend a real helping hand.

We hear that the actor is personally bearing the complete medical treatment of 10 paraplegics from different city hospitals, including the cost of hospitalisation and medicines. “This is costing him about Rs 7 lakh per month,” says a source.

What made Hrithik take this up? “Actually, Hrithik was quite moved ever since he started interacting with paraplegics, but he was shaken when he met some very young people who were helpless due to paraplegia,” explains the source.

When contacted, Rakesh Roshan confirmed the story.

Fans from Rajasthan gathered outside Hrithik’s residence to catch a glimpse of their favourite star on Holi on Monday
By Vickey Lalwani
Posted On Wednesday, March 03, 2010 at 03:26:31 AM

On Monday, Hrithik Roshan’s fans brought traffic to a standstill in an attempt to get a glimpse of their favourite star.

The drama unfolded at 1.30 pm, when around 30 Holi revellers gathered outside Hrithik’s Juhu residence, Pallazio. They claimed to have especially come all the way from Rajasthan and requested the security guard to let them meet the actor. They called out Hrithik’s name and started singing his songs. When their efforts failed to attract attention, some even tried to forcefully enter his residence but in vain.

Around 3pm, Hrithik came to the balcony and waved out to the euphoric fans who repeatedly started screaming, ‘Krrish’. The actor good-naturedly gestured to ask if he should swoop down like Krrish to meet them.

When asked if they would show the same enthusiasm to meet any other actor, they said, “Nahin. Hrithik hamara bhagwan hai. Aaj darshan ho gaye.” When asked what’s so special about Hrithik, they replied, “Uska dance pagal kar deta hai aadmi ko,” and some of them started dancing like Hrithik in the song, It’s magic, it’s magic from Koi Mil Gaya.
